In early November 2005 I approached CP to assist me to purchase my first home. I had a clear vision of my needs, where, when, a garden, sun, and space for outdoor living. It turns out, I did not have a clear understanding of cost but I had a good idea about what a bank would lend me. Initially I asked CP to show me houses under $350k. CP was great -- rather than laughing at me, she let me have a go and learn for myself (very important given this level of the lifestyle change). Within 3 days I discovered there was little chance in Oakland to get what I was looking for at $350k. But, importantly, CP had already proven herself to be very responsive, flexible, highly professional, and credible. In that first 3 days I gained the level of trust I needed.
In the following 6 days she answered every one of my thoughtfully ignorant questions with kind, considerate and knowing responses. Within 9 days of driving around looking at properties, I placed an offer. It was 2 days before Thanksgiving, not an easy time, and the seller required several counter bids to go into contract. Then the questions changed and the level of trust I needed increased. CP continued to listen and be patient with me, answering ever more complex questions. There was the loan contingency, the home inspection contingency, the final walk through, escrow -- every step new and loaded with questions for needed answers. Given the holiday season, I set CP a tough challenge. One that she easily met. Early in the New Year I received my keys and spent a wonderful afternoon moving in exactly 65 days after CP agreed to represent me.
CPs one stop shop, energy, and responsive attention to detail is the reason why today I am tending my garden, spending sunny afternoons in my nook, and spending evenings on my deck BBQing with friends. But it did not stop there. CPs after sales service was amazing, but you will have to find that one out for yourself. A word to the weary: buying a first home can be as simple or as difficult as you want to make it, you can take more or less time depending on your criteria, and you will likely have stressful moments, but working with CP will be a great experience. That is certain."
